[Fulltime] Lecturer - Foundation Learning at South Thames College

South Thames College is seeking a Lecturer to support students in the Foundation Learning area of the College to provide tutorial and pastoral care for a group or groups of learners with learning disabilities/difficulties and to monitor work experience activities.

You’ll deliver teaching and assessment activities within own area of specialism including lectures, setting/marking coursework, practical activities and field work and deliver Maths and English to SEND at the appropriate level. You’ll arrange, coordinate and supervise practical work, events and assessment projects as well as advise students on techniques. You may also be required to deliver personal care and administer medication.

As our Lecturer, we’d like you to hold a teaching qualification (or be willing to work towards) and have engaged in recent, relevant continuing professional development. You will have strong subject knowledge and current teaching experience in the delivery of English, Maths, and Employability skills. You should understand inclusive learning strategies and progression pathways within further education, particularly in relation to improving opportunities for learners with SEND. Experience of vocational curriculum development in Further Education is essential, including RARPA, entry level qualifications and Functional Skills.

You’ll be able to apply a range of strategies to meet individual learning needs and have experience of motivating and guiding individuals and/or teams towards agreed objectives. You should also demonstrate the ability to design and deliver a variety of vocational programmes. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, enabling effective interaction with students, colleagues and a range of internal and external stakeholders. Strong interpersonal, planning, organisational and administrative skills are also required, along with excellent attention to detail.

As a senior representative, you will engage with external networks and national bodies to keep practice aligned with sector research, policy and regulatory developments.

This role would suit someone who is educated to degree level and who holds a recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE or DET. You will be an experienced teacher with evidence of outstanding practice and have experience of evaluating and improving the quality of teaching, learning and assessment. This will include observation practice and developing individual teachers and teams.

You will have the ability to design, implement and manage quality improvement and professional development guidance, systems and processes across all learning provision, and have knowledge of how to evaluate and report on performance and impact. Knowledge of FE quality frameworks and legislation including OFSTED EIF; white papers is also essential.

At Kingston College, we are seeking a Lecturer to teach across a range of levels from Level 1 through to Degree level, with a focus on the T Level in Early Years and Childcare. You will work with the Centre Safeguarding Lead to coordinate, lead and monitor safeguarding practice, ensuring best practice and compliance. Acting as the Centre Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (CDDSL), you will take responsibility for safeguarding decision making, including making referrals to external agencies in line with statutory guidance.

The role will also involve deputising for the Centre Designated Safeguarding Lead (CDSL)/Group DSL where required, including leading on safeguarding escalations and critical incidents. You will act as the first point of contact for safeguarding concerns, working closely with the CDSLs at each college and the Centre Safeguarding Lead as appropriate.

As our Safeguarding Coordinator, we would like you to hold a degree in a relevant discipline (Psychology, Social Work, Youth & Community, Counselling) or equivalent professional experience, along with a safeguarding qualification at Level 3 or above. You will have significant experience of managing complex safeguarding cases within a legislative framework, including experience of handling high-risk safeguarding concerns in an FE, education or similar setting.

You will have experience of working with external agencies such as Social Care, Police, YOS and Health alongside the ability to assess risk, analyse information and make sound safeguarding decisions. A demonstrable and current knowledge of safeguarding legislation, including Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE), Working Together and Prevent is essential.

The role requires excellent communication, interpersonal and record-keeping skills, including experience of using CPOMS or similar systems. Joining us as an Enrichment Officer, you’ll lead on developing, delivering, planning, and coordinating a range of enrichment activities with high levels of engagement. We’re seeking a candidate with a degree, diploma or equivalent qualification (e.g., Youth and Community Work, minimum Level 5) along with experience supervising and managing staff against service KPIs and improvement plans. You’ll have experience coordinating high-quality activities, projects, workshops and large-scale events (e.g., Freshers’ Fair), as well as managing complex safeguarding cases, including risk assessment, decision-making and coordinating safety and support plans with internal and external partners such as Social Services and the Police.

Strong knowledge of safeguarding ractices, data protection and the ability to conduct robust health and safety risk assessmentsis advantageous. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required, including written, verbal, and administrative abilities, with empathy, discretion and confidentiality.
