[Fulltime] Young People's Housing Support Specialist (Trauma at Gloucester City Homes

The role operates on a 3-week rota, including a mix of early shifts (7:45am to 3:45pm) and late shifts (2:00pm to 10:00pm), with no night shifts required.

You will be required to work every other weekend and participate in a 1-in-7 on-call rota. On-call duties involve providing telephone support to colleagues when needed, with an additional £30 payment per call received.

This role delivers intensive, trauma-informed support to young people with complex needs, helping them build resilience, improve wellbeing and move towards independence. No personal care duties are required, and the role is not based within a care home or residential care environment.

We're seeking a Young People's Housing Support Specialist (known internally as Specialist Support Worker) to join our Young People's Service at Hewmar House, supporting young people with complex needs within supported accommodation. This is a rewarding opportunity to help young people build confidence, develop essential life skills, overcome barriers, and successfully transition towards independent living.

As a senior member of the team, you'll provide guidance and support to colleagues, coordinate shift activities, and deliver person-centred support that enables young people to thrive.

What you'll be doing...

Developing and delivering individual support plans focused on independence and achieving positive outcomes.
Supporting young people with housing, wellbeing, life skills and tenancy sustainment.
Working collaboratively with colleagues, statutory services and partner agencies.
Identifying and responding to safeguarding concerns, risk factors and wellbeing needs.
Encouraging positive engagement, behaviour change and participation in support services.
Maintaining accurate records, case notes and outcome monitoring information.

We'd like you to have...

Qualifications

Level 3 NVQ in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People), or an equivalent qualification.
Level 4 Certificate in Working with Children, Individuals and Families, or an equivalent qualification.
Certificate in Counselling, or another relevant counselling qualification.
Alternatively, substantial professional experience working in a similar role/environment

Skills & Experience

Experience supporting young people, vulnerable individuals or those experiencing homelessness and complex needs.
A good understanding of homelessness, supported housing and the challenges faced by young people.
Knowledge of safeguarding, risk management and trauma-informed approaches.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build trust and positive relationships with young people and partners.
Excellent organisational, problem-solving and case management skills.
The ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners.
Able to work effectively both as part of a team and lone-working, demonstrating resilience, adaptability and professionalism in demanding and emotionally complex environments.

Hewmar House

Based at Hewmar House, a 24/7 supported accommodation service for young people who have experienced homelessness and may have complex support needs, including trauma, vulnerability, and tenancy-related challenges.

The role operates on a 3-week rota, including a mix of early shifts (7:45am to 3:45pm) and late shifts (2:00pm to 10:00pm), with no night shifts required.

Due to shift start and finish times, applicants must be able to travel to and from Hewmar House reliably.

Experience creating support plans and carrying out risk assessments.
Good communication and IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
Good organisation and attention to detail.
A calm, positive and friendly approach, even in challenging situations.
A commitment to treating everyone fairly and respecting different backgrounds and needs.

As a Residential Scheme Manager (live-in), you’ll play an important role in creating a safe, welcoming and well-run community for residents at Marlborough Court. You’ll support residents to live independently, build positive relationships and help ensure the scheme remains a place that residents are proud to call home.

Marlborough Court is retirement independent living scheme made up of 48 flats and 9 bungalows. Your role will be to work closely with residents, colleagues and the established Resident Association to encourage community involvement and provide a responsive service.

The role includes an on-site living element, with a 2-bedroom bungalow provided for you to live in. This is in the grounds of Marlborough Court, however separate to the flats and other bungalows. There is a separate office space for your work within the main communal building. You’ll be required to live on site from Monday to Friday. You’ll have the flexibility to leave at weekends or stay on site if you prefer. Residents will be aware of your working hours, and you will not be contacted outside of these times unless there is an emergency.

Salary: £27,972 per year

About the role

We are seeking to recruit a Clinical or Forensic Psychologist, to be based at Glyn Rhosyn Care Home with Nursing, which may include travel to other MHC locations, according to the needs of the role.

We are looking for an innovative and motivated Clinical or Forensic Psychologist to deliver psychology support and structured interventions for residents. We are looking for someone with relevant experience from previous practice. We would be interested to hear from Consultant Psychologists or from a Clinical or Forensic Psychologist with relevant experience and skills supporting people with a Learning Disability, Mental Health Diagnosis and/or Complex Needs, including experience and relevant training in recognised Risk Assessments.

Good working knowledge of therapeutic approaches, research and evidence based practices are essential for this role. Experience of working as part of an MDT and working directly with residents and staff is vital.

The ability to be innovative; a focus on quality; and being a team player are essential qualities for this post.

As the Clinical or Forensic Psychologist at MHC your role will include;

Working autonomously within professional and organisational guidelines and policy. Exercising responsibility for the governance of psychological practice within MHC.
Providing Psychological assessment, formulation and interventions to residents and acting as a specialist resource to the wider professional community as needed.
Developing appropriate assessments, formulation and interventions for the people in our care
Working collaboratively as a member of the Multidisciplinary team
Providing systemic support and training to the nursing and support team to assist in the delivery of effective care and support to residents, supporting a Psychologically Informed Environment.
