Build a career somewhere that celebrates difference

At NUS we encourage everyone to always explore new ways of working that will win for students and help students’ unions improve how they work for their members (students).

That’s why we’ve always celebrated and recognised diversity and difference; we’ve seen how different viewpoints, experiences and knowledge can shape a better world, not just for students, but for all of us.

Its why we look for talented professionals who are looking for something different and who can support, aid and help our student leaders to deliver our plans, campaigns, projects, events, networks, research and advice. If you thrive on diversity, variety, challenge, and creativity is your thing, we’re interested in talking to you.

Support the student movement

Our people support elected student leaders as they make change reality, improve lives and fulfil potential; our role as staff is to help make it happen for them and the students they represent. Everyone of us has a role to play in helping the wider student movement deliver, whether you’re processing our finances, managing campaigns, looking after our office facilities, running our governance, training or events, or keeping our IT up to date.

Support our member Student Unions

And with nearly 600 member students’ unions across the country, supporting 7 million students, and a bold new strategy, we’re committed to taking NUS, and our national movement from strength to strength. We’re a small team of around 75 people split between working on campaigns (NUS UK) and helping students’ unions (NUS Charity) but work closely with our partners and our network of members to get results. Together we are the student movement.

At NUS we strive to make our community a welcoming, caring and enthusiastic environment, fuelling ambition with opportunities and support to help us all achieve our personal and professional goals. In return for your passion and experience we offer the flexibility for work-life balance, a competitive salary for the non-profit sector and excellent holiday allowance. We’re absolutely open to considering requests for job-share or part-time working.

We’re also committed to equality of opportunity for all and welcome applications from individuals regardless of their race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, age, gender, or disability. We particularly welcome applications from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic candidates, as they are under-represented within NUS currently.

You can be yourself here whoever you are, be proud of the work you do and build a career in a place that knows different is good.

Work-life Balance

Work life balance of our staff is important to us. Should you have family/caring responsibilities, we have a package of family-friendly policies that provide for flexible working, additional paid maternity and paternity leave, and leave for family emergencies. We’d be happy to discuss the options with you during any job application process.
