AARRC Practitioner

Royal Greenwich Children in Care and Care Leavers' Services is an exciting place to work right now. Join us as we develop a new purpose designed short-term residential-based service focussed on improving stability and outcomes for children and young people aged 11-17; and play an important role in delivering this new and innovative service directly improving outcomes for children, young people and families.

This new service, called the Adolescent Assessment Residential and Resource Centre (the AARRC), will deliver a multi-disciplinary service to children and young people who are either in or 'at risk' of entering the care system (and where appropriate to their families and their wider support network), where AARRC Practitioners and managers will:

  • Provide a Children's Home for (up to 6) children and young people requiring multi-disciplinary assessments of needs, bridging placements or emergency accommodation.

  • Undertake rigorous assessments to reduce unplanned moves and improve placement stability for children and young people.

  • Provide multi-disciplinary and impactful services to improve outcomes for children and young people including therapeutic services and speech and language therapy which will contribute to better outcomes.

  • Ease the number of new care-entrants by providing 'edge of care' services and to address crises and reunify children and young people with their families where it is safe and in their best interests to do so.

We are changing the way we work by developing a new practice model to ensure that we are best placed to deliver on the priorities for children and young people centred around systemic practice and restorative and compassion informed approaches.

The vision for the AARRC has been informed by organisational and sectoral learning, best practice from our existing Children's Home as well as the voices of children and young people.

We are now looking for 10 AARRC Practitioners who, under the leadership of an experienced Deputy Manager and under the direct line management of a Practice Supervisor, will they deliver a high quality service to children and young people residing in the centre. Working through your respective team, you will develop this innovative new service, ensuring a first-class service delivering brilliant outcomes for children, young people and families.

You will be joining a genuinely values driven Children's Services directorate which is rated 'Good' by Ofsted with a strong, inclusive and accessible leadership.

You will have successful experience of direct work with children, young people and families with targeted or complex needs and will have the ability to support with compassion and care ensuring the best possible outcomes for the children and young people with whom you work.

If you feel you have the necessary skills, experience, and creativity to join us at this exciting time, we would like to hear from you.
