Job summary

We are looking for candidates that are passionate about improving inclusion and diversity at the House of Lords. Without our people we cannot deliver the wide range of excellent services needed to support the UK’s parliamentary democracy; and we are committed to an inclusive, diverse and professional workforce.

You’ll be joining our HR Senior Management Team as the Head of Inclusion and Diversity. The Inclusion and Diversity team lead projects and programmes, support our workplace equality networks, and organise events. This opportunity is hybrid with a mixture of working from home and on the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Parliamentary Estate.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys being hands on with Inclusion and Diversity, leading the Inclusion and Diversity team and strategic projects to support the Inclusion and Diversity Strategy. If you have a positive, proactive approach, we would love to hear from you.

Job description

You’ll be responsible for

  • Delivering the House of Lords Inclusion & Diversity strategy and Pay Gaps Action Plans
  • Leading and developing the I&D team of three, promoting collaborative working and delivering strategic initiatives and effective services
  • Providing of expert advice based on up-to-date knowledge as our understanding of barriers to inclusion and diversity evolves
  • Representing the I&D team, the House of Lords and parliament at events, within external networks and on committees.
  • Provide regular updates and reports, providing clear and understandable data, analysis and narrative.

Person specification

What we’re looking for

  • Strong knowledge of and demonstrable commitment to continual learning about matters relating to inclusion and diversity.
  • A proven track record of delivering measurable improvements in inclusion and diversity, including defining and meeting specific milestones and deadlines.
  • Proven ability to develop effective working relationships with stakeholders, including senior leaders and colleagues from different backgrounds.
  • Demonstrable experience of communicating clearly orally and in writing, identifying key messages for different audiences and demonstrating strong influencing skills.
  • Proven experience of collaborative working, including challenging appropriately when required and being personally accountable for delivery when needed.
  • A qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent expertise gained through relevant work experience.
