1. About this role



Firetail is growing. We are looking for a Communications and Marketing Coordinator to join our team and shape this new role.

As Communications and Marketing Coordinator you will be responsible for:




  • coordinating the delivery of our external communications and marketing activities

  • managing regular updates of our website and social media channels

  • helping to write and optimise content for the website, digital newsletters, print publications and social media sites



You will support the team to develop new marketing materials and events, coordinate our calendar of publications and events, and track progress and performance to report to regular team and management meetings.



Who we’re looking for




  • Experience of coordinating and project managing communications and marketing activities

  • An understanding of the importance of an engaging online presence with experience of managing website content management systems 

  • Excellent digital skills, including experience in managing social media channels and creating quality content

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail to be able to edit copy and proof-read

  • A professional and can-do attitude across a range of marketing and communications tasks. No-one has experience of every single tool, method and way of working – but you are keen to learn and keen to try.



Key responsibilities



This is a diverse role, where you will be asked to co-ordinate a wide range of activities. You will work with the team to set and manage your priorities, which will include:



Planning and coordination




  • Plan and coordinate delivery of Firetail’s marketing and communications activities

  • Organise and develop Firetail’s communications and events calendar




  • Expand our marketing activities through new initiatives such as SEO, paid ads, working with agencies, and organising events



Content development, editorial and proof reading




  • Support the team to develop and publish new content including website articles, blogs, social media updates, and other resources

  • Develop case studies of our previous work and engagements, in collaboration with the team

  • Support the production of our fortnightly Firetail Briefing, upload and distribute this on our communications channels

  • Support the team in editing and proofreading our business development proposals and project outputs



Website and social media management




  • Update, edit and maintain the Firetail website – adding news items, articles and downloadable resources




  • Day-to-day update and management of social media channels (LinkedIn and Twitter) creating original and engaging social media posts using graphics, infographics, photography and engaging reactively with our audiences

  • Plan and manage a regular schedule of email marketing activity, growing our Briefing  subscriber base and creating engaging, relevant content including testing to optimise results



Reporting




  • Use analytics to report on results of all communication activities and marketing campaigns, website and social media channels

  • Track monthly performance across channels and prepare reports for our monthly Leadership Team meetings

  • Proven experience in marketing / communications from previous work or volunteering engagements



 



Skills




  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal communication skills

  • Strong writing skills with ability to produce compelling copy, experience of writing for different audiences and channels

  • Proof reading and editorial skills with a good eye for detail

  • Strong IT and digital experience

  • Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time

  • Ability to work as part of a team and individually

  • Excellent time management and prioritisation skills

  • Strong problem solving, analysis and research skills




  • Practical experience of production and design

  • Ability to create and develop analytics reports to improve future performance



 



Competence




  • Experience of planning and coordinating marketing and comms activities

  • Hands-on experience of managing and writing content for website CMS (using Squarespace, Canva)

  • Experience of managing social media activities or campaigns




  • Experience of working in social progress / change sector organisations

  • Google analytics/ads and SEO experience

3. Working at Firetail



Our office is located at The Pill Box in Bethnal Green, London. The Pill Box has great facilities including a café, gym and roof terrace. We have a hybrid blend of office and remote working. We offer flexibility around working hours and presence in the office. We expect this role to have regular in-person contact with our London (UK) team so ideally you'll have the ability to travel to the office at least once per month.
