Compliance Executive

London (Hybrid)

£41,205 per annum

Permanent

Full / Part time

Closing date: 7th March 2025

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) is the independent, self-regulatory body for advertising in the UK and works to ensure that ads are legal, decent, honest, and truthful. The Compliance team sits at the forefront of the ASA’s proactive ad regulation, working to address non-compliance across all sectors and media, including online.

We work in a fast-moving environment where the media we regulate is constantly evolving and the regulatory and political landscape is shifting. To help us meet the challenge of regulating ads within that context, we have two new roles available.

We are open to flexible working, but with 21 hours per week as a minimum

More about the role:

This is an exciting time for the team as it evolves. Increasingly, we use machine learning-based monitoring technologies and automation to help tackle non-compliance at pace and scale, supported by our growing Data Science team.

To be successful in this role, you will be a highly motivated individual, who is comfortable working in a diverse and challenging role involving enforcement work. You will demonstrate your ability to learn quickly, work autonomously and find creative solutions to challenges.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, our Compliance Executives ensure compliance with ASA decisions and the advertising Codes by employing a variety of approaches including media and issue specific project work, acting against non-complying business, co-ordinating sanctions, building relationships with industry stakeholders and the effective monitoring of ads across all media. The Compliance team works within the Advertising Policy and Practice Directorate (APP) and carries out work for both the Advertising Standards Authority and the CAP and BCAP committees.

What we are looking for:

Our ideal candidate will be an effective communicator, comfortable with conversing with people across at all levels across a range of stakeholders, with excellent report-writing skills with a great eye for detail. They will have the ability to understand, analyse and report on complex evidence, including data sent in support of claims or generated through algorithmic monitoring and interpret the key elements of ASA rulings and provide practical and helpful advice to industry practitioners to ensure compliance.

We are looking for someone with experience of managing and delivering projects with the proven ability to plan, organise and work flexibly under pressure whilst retaining a high level of accuracy and consistency. They will have the ability to work independently, using their initiative and be resourceful in resolving problems and working effectively with a team environment.

We think the ASA is a great place to work, with a fantastic office in Shoreditch, London. We have a culture that’s open, friendly and collaborative, with a real focus on making the right decisions in the right way and learning while we’re doing it.

We welcome applications from all sections of society, and we’re committed to being a diverse and inclusive organisation, both so we can represent everyone in the UK and so our own colleagues feel at home at work.

We operate a hybrid working model and office attendance is required 40% of your contracted hours.

How to apply: If you are interested in applying for these roles, please review the job description below and complete the online questions outlining how you meet the requirements of the role and how you can contribute to the success of the Compliance Team. Please ensure that you provide all the information required on the online form as we do not accept CV's or attachments and cannot edit applications.

Please do not enter your name in any of the fields unless asked to do so. This is to help our managers to shortlist applications without knowing your name, gender, ethnicity or nationality. Thank you for your co-operation.

Please note we do not have a sponsorship licence and are unable to sponsor visas.
