Facilities Management Technician

London

Generous Salary Plus Benefits

We're looking for a practical, hands-on Facilities Management Technician to join our FM team. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys fixing problems, maintaining buildings to a high standard and taking pride in creating safe, clean and well-presented workspaces for our customers.

This is not a desk-based facilities role. You will report into the FMT Team Leader and spend the majority of your time out in our buildings carrying out inspections, first-fix repairs, maintenance tasks and compliance checks, while working closely with our Centre Management and FM teams to ensure our customers have the best possible experience.

You'll have a genuine "get it done" attitude, enjoy solving day-to-day building issues, and be comfortable turning your hand to everything from basic repairs and decorating to contractor supervision and health & safety compliance.

What You'll Be Doing

Building Maintenance & Repairs

  • Carry out first-fix maintenance and minor repairs across our centres.

  • Undertake basic decorating, painting and making-good works.

  • Respond to reactive maintenance requests and complete assigned tasks through our CAFM system.

  • Keep common areas, external areas and landlord spaces clean, safe and in good decorative order.

  • Identify issues before they become larger problems and proactively recommend solutions.

  • Assist with waste and recycling management, ensuring waste areas remain organised and compliant.

  • Record all completed works and maintain accurate maintenance records.

Contractor Management

  • Support Facilities Managers with coordinating maintenance contractors and specialist suppliers.

  • Conduct contractor inductions and toolbox talks.

  • Monitor contractor performance and ensure works are completed safely and to the required standard.

  • Ensure contractors comply with Workspace policies and minimise disruption to customers.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Carry out daily and weekly building inspections.

  • Complete fire safety checks, weekly fire alarm tests and emergency lighting inspections.

  • Conduct water hygiene checks including outlet flushing and temperature monitoring.

  • Complete inspections of plant rooms, risers, roof spaces and other building service areas.

  • Maintain accurate compliance records using our maintenance management systems.

  • Escalate any health, safety or compliance concerns promptly.

Customer Service

  • Build positive relationships with customers and act as a visible facilities presence within the buildings.

  • Work closely with Centre Teams to ensure customers receive a prompt and professional service.

  • Support the delivery of a safe, compliant and welcoming environment for all occupiers and visitors.

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Previous hands-on maintenance, building services or facilities experience.

  • Experience carrying out basic repairs and practical maintenance tasks.

  • Good understanding of health and safety within a building environment.

  • Strong customer service and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and use your own initiative.

  • Comfortable using IT systems and mobile devices.

  • Good attention to detail and organisational skills.

Desirable

  • Facilities, maintenance, trade or engineering-related qualification.

  • Experience using CAFM or maintenance management systems.

  • Understanding of building services including heating, lighting, plumbing, drainage or electrical systems.

  • Experience coordinating contractors and monitoring works.

  • Knowledge of fire safety, asbestos awareness or legionella compliance.

This role requires you to be on various sites 5 days a week.

You must be authorised to work in the UK to be considered for this position.
