Fire Safety Coordinator

If so, we’re looking for a dedicated Fire Safety Advisor to join our team and play a critical role in safeguarding lives and properties.
Your Purpose:
To ensure the effective implementation of fire safety policies, provide expert advice to managers, colleagues, and customers, and fulfil the statutory duties of a Competent Person under the Fire Safety Order and Building Safety Act.
Your Main Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
- Support the Building Safety Manager (BSM) and provide advice to the Fire Safety Forum and other relevant meetings.
- Develop and implement NCHA’s fire safety strategy, policies, procedures, and in-house training programs.
Customer & Resident Engagement:
- Create clear fire safety guidance for residents, including engagement at consultation meetings.
- Ensure personal emergency evacuation plans are in place for residents unable to self-evacuate and communicate these to the Fire and Rescue Service.
Compliance & Risk Management:
- Conduct fire risk assessments and maintain the fire risk assessment schedule.
- Audit fire safety policies, procedures and fire risk assessments , ensuring corrective actions are completed within required timeframes.
- Validate and test emergency action and business continuity plans for commercial and residential properties.
Collaboration & Support:
- Provide technical and regulatory advice for fire safety improvement projects.
- Liaise with project managers, contractors, and the Fire and Rescue Service to ensure compliance during inspections and maintenance.
Regulatory Responsibilities:
- Assist the BSM with preparing Fire and Emergency Files and Safety Cases for buildings under the Building Safety Act.
- Maintain up-to-date information and keys for the Fire and Rescue Service in premises boxes.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement:
- Produce compliance reports and management information as needed.
- Stay updated with fire safety legislation, standards, and best practices, sharing relevant changes with stakeholders.
What You Bring:
Knowledge:
- NEBOSH Fire Certificate or equivalent qualification with ongoing professional development.
- Associate or Member of a relevant professional body (e.g., IFPO, IFSM, or IFE).
- Understanding of health and safety legislation in housing or care settings.
Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in fire safety management within housing, care, or related sectors such as Environmental Health or Fire and Rescue Services.
- Knowledge of current building techniques, the ability to interpret design drawings, and manage refurbishment or maintenance projects.
- Expertise in analyzing complex data for reporting and business improvement.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships, influence stakeholders, and deliver training programs.
- A proactive approach to risk management and quality assurance.
