Gas Engineer / Installation Technician 



Salary: £39,200 per annum  



Location: Manchester, Wythenshawe  



Hours of work 39 per week  



Permanent, Full Time  



 



We have an exciting permanent opportunity for a Gas Installation Technician to join WCHG. You will work with the team to repair gas fired central heating systems and gas appliances in domestic premises.  You will carry out installation works to a high standard in accordance with the appropriate safety standards and building regulations and the manufacturer’s instructions. 



Main responsibilities include, but not limited to: 





  • To service/recommission gas fired equipment in domestic premises to manufacturer’s instructions and relevant gas legislation; 




  • To carry out Installation works to Heating Systems including gas pipe installations, replacement of radiators and any associated pipework. 




  • To inspect, trace, diagnose and rectify faults ensuring the system is in a safe condition; 




  • To respond to gas emergencies diagnosing faults and carry out repairs; 




  • To trace, locate and repair gas escapes in domestic premises; 




  • To undertake routine safety checks and programmed services on all types of gas appliances in domestic premises; 




  • To undertake routine inspection of relevant domestic property appliances e.g. smoke alarms, extract fans etc 




  • To report to Gas and Heating Manager/appropriate person all faulty appliances / installations that do not comply with current gas safety regulations and, where possible, rectify appliance faults. 





 



The ideal candidate will hold a current ACS qualification/equivalent such as CCN1, CENWAT, CKR1 & HTR1 and be able to produce supporting documentation, and will have completed a recognised apprenticeship and / or a minimum of NVQ level 3 or its equivalent and to hold an unvented hot water qualification. 



If required, the successful candidate will carry out on-call duties in accordance with a rota set by WCHG.  This will be in addition to normal hours of work, and additional payments will be made for on-call duties.
