The School of Foundation, Intermediate Learning and Employability at Kingston College is seeking a Section Head to be responsible for the staff and curriculum standards in the cross-college mandatory maths delivery area. The focus is on ensuring that current and future students receive a first-class experience that enables them to progress and attain their qualifications at high levels and to develop long-lasting learning and employability skills.



This post has a collective responsibility for the implementation of the area business and improvement Plans, as well as contributing to the College’s Objectives and Improvement Plans. You will be responsible for ensuring we meet our conditions of funding for maths skills development, ensuring high quality teaching, improving success rates and ensuring excellent feedback from students.



Joining us as Head of Section, you will teach either GCSE or A level Maths and have oversight of functional skills maths, GCSE maths and A level Maths ensuring a transparent, responsive and high-quality service to the College is being offered.



We are looking for someone who holds a degree or relevant professional qualifications in an appropriate subject, holds a teaching qualification (or willing to work towards) and participated in recent and relevant continuous professional development. With excellent teaching skills in GCSE or A level Maths and recognised as a good or better teacher, you will have current knowledge of impending curriculum changes and the implications for teaching and learning strategies.



With experience of leading/managing maths and a track record of making sustained improvements, you will have a strong vision for the improvement and development of the curriculum area with a thorough understanding of quality assurance and improvement processes and how these can be used to enhance the student experience. With high personal standards and expectations, you will have experience of successfully monitoring and supporting ‘at-risk’ learners to achieve or exceed their potential and of managing, supporting and developing staff.



The successful candidate will be eligible for any increase in salary as a consequence of the annual cost of living review that will be implemented in the new academic year.
