Housing Officer
£37,960.52 per annum
Bromsgrove
Full Time, Permanent
Closing Date: Friday 20th November 9am
Interview Date: Thursday 3rd December - in person
Are you passionate about helping people and making a positive difference within your local community?
Bromsgrove District Housing Trust (bdht) is looking for a proactive and approachable Housing Officer to join its Communities Team. You’ll deliver a customer-focused housing management service, supporting a diverse range of customers while helping to create safe, sustainable communities.
What you’ll be doing
This is a varied, customer-facing role where you’ll build strong relationships with customers, provide day-to-day housing management support and help resolve issues affecting tenancies and neighbourhoods.
You’ll manage tenancy and estate matters, deal with anti-social behaviour cases and take a proactive, solution-focused approach to resolving problems, including taking enforcement action where appropriate. You’ll also work closely with colleagues and external partners to support customers and achieve positive outcomes.
Alongside your housing management responsibilities, you’ll contribute to community projects, events and initiatives, engage with customers to understand their needs and use feedback to help continually improve the service.
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who is confident working with people and able to combine a compassionate approach with the ability to deal professionally with challenging situations.
You’ll have experience working in a customer-facing environment, ideally supporting customers with a range of needs or vulnerabilities. You’ll be an excellent communicator who can adapt your approach to different people, build trust quickly and use strong negotiation, influencing and problem-solving skills to achieve positive outcomes.
You’ll also need to be organised, proactive and comfortable working independently, with the ability to manage competing priorities and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information. Experience within social housing would be particularly relevant to the role.
A current valid driving licence and access to an appropriately insured and MOT’d car are required for the position. The successful candidate will also be subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
If you’re looking for your next Housing Officer opportunity and want a role where you can build relationships, solve problems and make a genuine difference within the community, we’d love to hear from you.
