Please note that this post is funded for the 2026/27 academic year onwards so the successful candidate would not be expected to commence in post prior to August 2026.

The Learning Technologist will play a key role in supporting the development and effective use of digital learning technologies and innovative pedagogical approaches across the South Thames Colleges Group. Working in close partnership with curriculum teams, you will enhance teaching, learning and assessment (TLA) by embedding educational technology into practice, developing staff digital capability and contributing to a range of innovation projects under the direction of the Team Leader - Digital Innovation & TLA.

You will run and maintain the Virtual Reality (VR) provision across the college group, ensuring effective integration into curriculum delivery and design and deliver a tiered CPD programme (Basics, Advanced, Innovator) to ensure progression.

As our Learning Technologist, you will be qualified to degree level and hold a recognised teaching qualification, along with evidence of CPD in digital learning or educational technology, or evidence of digital pedagogy. You will bring a strong understanding of digital pedagogy and how technology can effectively enhance teaching, learning and assessment, with demonstrable experience of using educational tools to support and improve practice.

You will have a sound knowledge of Microsoft 365 and commonly used educational technologies, alongside an awareness of emerging trends in EdTech and the use of AI in education. Strong communication skills are essential, enabling you to confidently explain technical concepts to non-technical users, together with well-developed problem-solving and analytical abilities to evaluate and implement effective digital solutions.

Although predominantly based at Merton College, this is a Group Wide post, and you will be required to travel to or work from any of the South Thames Colleges Group sites.

The successful candidate will be eligible for any increase in salary as a consequence of the annual cost of living review that will be implemented in the new academic year.

Closing date for the return of completed applications is 13th May 2026.

The benefits package includes generous annual leave of 27 days, plus up to 8 additional days over Christmas/New Year as well as an additional 5 days Wellbeing leave to enhance employees’ physical and mental health. This leave is all in addition to Bank Holiday entitlement. There is an excellent pension scheme that receives a significant financial contribution from the employer (Teachers Pensions or Local Government Pension Scheme), subsidised sports facilities and professional development and training plus a salary sacrifice cycle to work scheme. The benefits package will be pro-rated for part time staff.
