12 Months Fixed Term Contract (Maternity Cover) starting 4th January 2027, Full Time

Joining us as a Senior Recreation Assistant, you will supervise the day-to-day operation of our Arena facilities, coordinating a small team of Recreation Assistants to ensure a safe, efficient and welcoming service.

You’ll support the smooth running of the facilities, including setting up equipment, overseeing bookings, undertaking reception duties and responding to customer enquiries. You’ll also carry out risk assessments, report hazards and maintenance requirements and ensure facilities and equipment are clean, safe and ready for use. Working with Recreation Assistants and work placement students, you’ll ensure duties are carried out effectively and in line with procedures, liaising with Facilities and Administration teams where required and providing cover within the fitness gym.

You’ll also act as a key point of contact for customers, responding professionally to concerns or complaints while maintaining high standards of customer service, health and safety and College policies.

We’d like our Senior Recreation Assistant to have substantial experience of working within a sport or leisure facility and hold a Level 3 Personal Training qualification. You’ll have good communication, interpersonal and customer service skills, with the confidence to supervise a small team of Recreation Assistants and organise and prioritise both your own workload and that of others.

You’ll be a flexible and supportive team player who enjoys working with the public, with good general IT skills and a willingness to work evenings and weekends when required. A current First Aid qualification would be desirable, or you’ll be willing to work towards one.

Closing date for the return of completed applications is 12th November 2026
