If that sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you. The Site Evaluation team is looking to recruit Technical Support to play a part in driving the siting process. This role represents an exciting opportunity to join the Siting & Communities Directorate in a small, supportive team.


This a pivotal period for the GDF Site Evaluation team, seeing us delivering site evaluation activities across our portfolio of communities.


To support NWS Site Evaluation team in the implementation of the Geological Disposal Facility (GDF) site evaluation process in the UK.

Responsible for supporting the Site Evaluation Integration Manager, Principal Site Evaluation Manager and Head of Community Engagement and Site Evaluation in the delivery GDF site evaluation activities.

SCOPE OF JOB



  • Lead on the development, delivery and documentation of any new functional processes that are required and regularly review and update any existing processes.




  • Provide advice as required on processes and procedures being developed by other functions and projects to ensure alignment with work being delivered by the Site Evaluation function.




  • Provide advice on the appropriateness of approaches and methodologies relating to development and documentation of evaluation, comparative evaluation and decision making.




  • Raise awareness and application promote of best practice within SE and more generally in directorate




  • Support integration across NWS to ensure that the Site Evaluation work is integrated with cross NWS workstreams.




  • Work collaboratively with all members of the Site Evaluation function and all parties involved in the delivery of Site Evaluation work across all Projects to support the delivery of work in a consistent manner.





QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS



  • Good first degree in an appropriate subject or equivalent experience.

  • Membership of an appropriate professional institute or interest in being a member in due course

  • Understanding of Central Government operations, policy development and implementation.

  • Understanding of radioactive waste and wider nuclear policy.

  • Knowledge of planning and regulatory requirements for geological disposal under the Planning Act 2008 for Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects, in particular environmental permitting, nuclear site licensing and land use planning.

  • Experience of developing and managing relationships with stakeholders to ensure successful delivery.

  • Strong influencing, communication and interpersonal skills and ability to act as a credible 'ambassador' for the function.

  • Good understanding of information and knowledge management systems as they might apply in the context of NWS.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • The Site Evaluation Technical Support will undertake other activities commensurate with their skills and experience as and when required.
