Cobalt Housing is looking for a passionate, energetic Sustainability Officer, to help lead our sustainability strategy, ensuring continual reduction of energy usage, carbon footprint and achieve our net-zero goals.
This new role demonstrates Cobalt’s commitment responding to climate change challenges, alongside forming part of our wider investment into our Property Services team.
This is an exciting time to join Cobalt Housing, contributing to the delivery of the Sustainability Investment Programme and increasing the awareness of sustainability and energy efficiency to both our customers and colleagues.

Role Summary
Reporting to the Strategic Asset Manager, the Sustainability Officer will support with ensuring Cobalt has a full understanding of current energy performance and sustainability of its portfolio, whilst developing an effective strategic and operational approach to energy efficiency improvements to achieve EPC Band C by 2030 and Net Carbon Zero.
In addition to working across the organisation, there will be a particular focus on supporting the development and implementation of policy and best practices for retrofitting and decarbonising homes and heating, to address fuel poverty and ensure sustainable homes and tenancies. The post holder will champion the delivery of our Sustainability Strategy and ensure this is embedded within the organisation.
As our energy expert, you will research and lead on new technologies, engaging with stakeholders and fellow experts at local and national level, whilst exploring funding opportunities to help maximise the Cobalt’s decarbonisation agenda.
This post is key to delivering our operational plan to achieve a minimum of EPC C rating to all our homes by 2030, and to delivering our Net Carbon Zero targets by 2050. You will also develop the wider Company aims to decarbonise the business.
As our Sustainability Officer you will be required to think strategically and have a focus on reducing our environmental impact and carbon footprint to support a more sustainable future for our customers to improve their lives and affordability living in their homes.
You will be required to work collaboratively with a wide range of teams and stakeholders and communicate at all levels. Ensuring all asset and compliance data is used intelligently, is comprehensive, accurate, continually updated and can be used to inform investment planning.
