Trainee Design Engineer- Carlisle

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Design Engineer to join our team in our Head Office in Carlisle. As a Trainee, you will work towards gaining a professional qualification whilst gaining practical experience on our machinery. You will be supervised and mentored by our experienced team who will support your development and progression.

The role:

As Trainee Design Engineer you will work closely with our Refurb Manager and our experienced engineering team to provide accurate and detailed drawings and schematics associated with our range of road rail vehicles.  You will contribute to the design and development of our machinery, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

What we need:

• NVQ level 3 in Plant Maintenance or equivalent


• Full driving licence


• Understanding of schematic software (ZUKON E3)) or similar


• Understanding of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and simulation tools.


• Knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems.


• Experience in working with heavy machinery or plant equipment


• Computer literate in MS Office suite, Outlook and Plant software package


• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to think creatively and analytically.


• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.


• Effective communication skills, and the ability to work as part of a team or independently as required.
