Welfare Rights Service Support Assistant


Scale: Sc3- 12-month fixed term contract/secondment vacancy


35 hours per week - Applications for reduced hours will also be considered.



We are currently recruiting for a Welfare Rights Service Support Assistant to play a key role in providing administrative support to the Welfare Rights Service, Universal Support, Money Advice and Emergency Support Teams.


The Welfare Rights Service is a specialist advice service, providing information and advice about a full range of welfare benefits and tax credits issues to staff, advisers and residents. The Universal Support Team, part of the Welfare Rights Service, supports residents who are receiving Universal Credit. The Money Advice Team supports residents who are struggling with their finances, enabling them to budget more effectively and address their debts. The Emergency Support Team provides discretionary support to residents during difficult times. This includes the provision of basic household items, furniture and one-off cash payments.


In this role you will handle incoming telephone calls and emails for the above teams. You will be the first point of contact for our residents, advisers, internal staff and external parties. You will assist the teams in contacting residents to book appointments, process both inbound and outbound post and maintain client records.


The role requires good communication skills with an ability to prioritise tasks when working under pressure and administrative experience in an office environment.
