Full time; 42.5 hours per week



Salary: £41,265.12 per annum



Based in: Covent Garden, London

The role:



Our Technical, Production and Costume Department plays a leading part in ensuring our performances are of the highest quality by delivering technical excellence for every performance, rehearsal, and event.



We are seeking to appoint an experienced Wigs & Make Up professional to join our busy team in a newly created specialist position, working across both Opera and Ballet. The postholder will develop their current WHAM skills by undertaking training on global majority hair and make-up, subsequently sharing this knowledge and developing skills with the wider team.



 



What you will bring:



The ideal candidate will be a team player, with excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach, who can demonstrate:




  • A proven track record in performance-related Wig and Make-up work for major companies.

     

  • An excellent background in a wide variety of wig and make-up preparation techniques including wig making.

     

  • Proven ability to realise make-up looks from an existing design.

     

  • An awareness of hair types and the latest hair and wig styling techniques and products, creating historical period styles, wig fittings, and carrying out routine alterations and re-fronting.

     

  • Demonstrable experience in running performances and providing excellent levels of customer care.

     

  • Demonstrable understanding of Health and Safety implications of the role.

     

  • Willingness to learn new skills and help train others.



 



This role is a fixed term contract funded post with a focus on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion initiatives in Wigs and Make-up skills, specifically global majority hair care. The role will include training and external placements and sharing that learning across the department. Experience with our arts forms is not a pre-requisite for this position.
