6 Months Fixed Term Contract, Full Time (35 hours per week)



Hybrid - The Homestead, York / Homeworking (1 to 2 days per week in person in The Homestead)



About the role 



We are seeking a Payroll Officer, to join our in-house shared services team, to deliver 3 payrolls to around 700 colleagues. You will be part of a supportive and busy team in a fast-paced environment.



The focus of this role is to ensure the accurate calculation and efficient delivery of the monthly payroll, employee benefits and pensions administration.



Key responsibilities include, ensuring that employee queries are resolved in a professional, timely and accurate manner. Completing all payroll processing, third-party data submissions and pensions administration by the required deadlines.



Complying with HMRC regulations, you’ll work with the Payroll Team Leader & Payroll Manager, to highlight opportunities to transform processes, as we continue improving our colleague system experience. You’ll also support the Payroll Team Leader & Payroll Manager to plan and execute the Tax Year End, by achieving the completion and submission of all statutory returns.



You’ll work closely with JRHT & JRF managers and the embedded People Teams to ensure all records on the payroll system are accurate, to enable the successful production of the payrolls each month.



About you



Ideally you will have end to end payroll experience with a good knowledge of UK payroll legislation and procedures, with an understanding of HMRC regulations on employee expenses and benefits, including the production of P11d’s.



Experience of the Civica payroll software would be a distinct advantage.



You’ll be committed to providing a high-quality service with tact, diplomacy, and the ability to maintain confidentiality. With a high level of competency using Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams and Outlook, you’ll have good time-management skills and be able to work independently with a high level of accuracy and a keen eye for detail.
