The Creative Industries School at Kingston College includes a range of general and specialist courses from level 1 to level 4 covering Art and Design, Media, Music and Performing Arts. Whilst the vast majority of students are on full-time 16-19 Study Programmes, the School also offers Access Diplomas and Higher Education courses and has more recently expanded into part-time Adult Education courses and is looking to further its offer to the local community by making specialist resources available for hire.
As our Team Leader – Art & Design, you will join the School’s Management Group (SMG) and will be responsible for curriculum standards and outcomes for a number of programmes, assuming responsibility for the organisation and co-ordination of delivery teams. Contributing directly to developing and meeting the School’s Quality Self-assessment and Improvement plans, you will ensure targets for recruitment, retention, achievement, success, progression and student satisfaction are achieved or exceeded.
We are looking for someone who holds a degree, or higher, in a relevant art & design specialism and/or equivalent professional qualification, holds a teaching qualification (or willing to work towards) and has excellent current teaching skills in art & design. Recognised as a good/outstanding teacher, you will have a strong commitment to equality and diversity, safeguarding, personalised learning and the provision of educational excellence. With experience of effectively leading/managing curriculum programmes and of managing, supporting and developing staff, you will have current knowledge of impending curriculum changes and the implications for teaching and learning strategies.
You will have a thorough understanding of quality assurance and improvement processes and how these can be used to enhance the student experience with a strong vision for the continuing improvement and development of the curriculum area. With experience of successfully monitoring and supporting ‘at-risk’ learners to achieve or exceed their potential, you will be receptive to new ideas and initiatives with a creative approach to problem solving.
The successful candidate will be eligible for any increase in salary as a consequence of the annual cost of living review that will be implemented in the new academic year.
